On July 17, Xiao Jianzhuang, President of Guangxi University, led a delegation to the Pinglu Canal Group for a specialized technical support and service meeting. Focusing on the major engineering needs of the Pinglu Canal project, Guangxi University leveraged its disciplinary strengths to proactively serve the construction of the canal. Wang Jieyun, Chairman of the Pinglu Canal Group, Wei Dejian, Deputy General Manager, and Chief Engineer of the Pinglu Canal Group, along with Liang Enwei, Vice President of Guangxi University, and An Yonghui, Academic Vice President of Guangxi University, attended the event.

President Xiao Jianzhuang noted that the Pinglu Canal is a monumental project of the century. The University will earnestly learn from the exemplary work ethic of the Pinglu Canal construction team—their courage, determination, and ability to tackle tough challenges. Building on its disciplinary and research strengths, the University will precisely align with the construction needs of the Pinglu Canal and continue to empower the project's development. President Xiao urged the University's research teams to pay close attention to the potential impact of typhoon disasters on the canal's construction, proactively visit the site to help identify risks and gain a thorough understanding of on-the-ground conditions, and provide front-line professional technical services. He further stated that with the strong support of the Party Committee and Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the thoughtful guidance of the Pinglu Canal Group, the three pilot projects led by Guangxi University are progressing smoothly. Looking ahead, the University will continue to leverage its talent, technological, and resource advantages to fully support the successful navigation of the Pinglu Canal in areas such as technical support, manpower assurance, and emergency services. Through practical application, the University will test and demonstrate its technological capabilities in supporting the construction of the Pinglu Canal project.

Chairman Wang Jieyun expressed his gratitude to Guangxi University for its longstanding support in the construction and development of the Pinglu Canal. He noted that the Pinglu Canal, a key project of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in Western China, is scheduled to open for navigation in September. At this critical juncture, Guangxi University has taken the initiative to deliver tailored "Guangxi University solutions" through its on-site services, and the three pilot projects have also achieved positive results. He expressed his hope that Guangxi University will continue to make sustained efforts and play an even greater role in the construction of the Pinglu Canal. He also affirmed that the Pinglu Canal Group will take this project as an opportunity to further deepen university-enterprise cooperation and fully support the development and progress of Guangxi University in all endeavors.

Vice President Liang Enwei emphasized that the first-class civil engineering discipline should leverage its strengths to serve the Pinglu Canal construction, while other disciplinary teams should also coordinate and engage comprehensively to address the project's needs. The principal investigators of the three pilot projects under Guangxi University's Guangxi Science and Technology Major Special Program for the Pinglu Canal reported on the project progress and their next-step work plans.

It is also reported that President Xiao Jianzhuang recently organized a team of university experts and led them to the front line of the Pinglu Canal project. Focusing on the critical safety issues and challenges in engineering construction, the team conducted on-site surveys and inspections across multiple key sections of the canal, providing new technological ideas and solutions for the project.
