Recently, the final review and judging session of the 11th "GARDEN" Cup Plant Landscape Design Competition concluded at the Danzhou Campus of Hainan University. The master's student team from the School of Forestry of Guangxi university stood out and won the first prize in the design category with their work "Seed? Hainan – A Dual-Path Practice of Aromatic Edible Landscaping and Rewilding Ecological Ark."

The award-winning team consists of Peng Heli, Meng Qingyang, and Tan Mengjiao, master's students of the Class of 2025 in the Landscape Architecture program at the School of Forestry. The work was jointly supervised by a faculty team led by Associate Professor Lin Qian from the College of Forestry (including Lin Qian, Zhou You, and Liang Linda). Centered on the concept of "Seed?," the work starts from the dual future of domestication and rewilding of a single seed, deeply explores pathways to resolve the deep-seated contradictions between agricultural production and ecological civilization, and transforms the agricultural park into an ecological theater that is open for sightseeing, learning, and reflection.

The "GARDEN" Cup Plant Landscape Design Competition is a national high-level competition guided by the Educational Work Committee of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture. The theme of this year's competition was "Tropical Native Landscapes – Regional Plant Landscape Creation," exploring diverse "Agriculture+" scenarios. A total of 333 entries were received from 87 universities. After a rigorous review process, only 8 outstanding works advanced to the final defense session.
